Rolf Engel is CEO of the consulting and holding company Reconom AG Zurich, which he founded as sole proprietor in January 2005. This company focuses on Private Equity and Private Real Estate.
After the takeover by SwissLife Versicherungsgruppe, Rolf Engel as CEO was entrusted with the organisation and development of the Redsafe Bank AG, Zurich, in 2003 and 2004.
Between the following years 1984 and 2002, he had different ranges of responsibilities at the Investmentbank Hornblower Fischer AG, Frankfurt/New York. He was responsible for various branch offices and subsidiaries and presided over departments, such as Brokerage (Futures, Securities, Equities), Fundraising/Structured Products, Administration of Property, Private Equity and Private Banking. In 1992, he was appointed a member of the board of directors and from 1996 to 2002 he was CEO/the spokesperson of the board.
Rolf Engel is a licentiate of the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU), Munich, and he studied at the European Business School (ebs), International University, Oestrich-Winkel, and obtained his academic degree in real estate economy. In September 2009, he will have finished his Executive MBA studies at University, Zurich, which takes place in cooperation with Yale University (New Haven, USA) and Fudan University (Shanghai, China).
During his time at the Hornblower, he completed his Examina Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 3 (National Commodity Futures Exam) and Series 8 (General Supervisor) in Miami, New York and Heidelberg. After Rolf Engel had finished his A-levels, he did an apprenticeship to become a mechanic. Up to now, he is a member of various advisory boards.
